Job Title: Machine Operator – Production (3rd Shift)
Job Description
This role operates production machinery to safely produce and finish high‑quality cast molded products in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The machine operator cuts, measures, inspects, and documents product according to standard operating procedures while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area. The position involves repetitive, hands‑on work, including removing molds from machines, cleaning trays, and transferring product to the next stage of manufacturing or to the warehouse.
Responsibilities
• Safely operate production machinery to produce and finish quality cast molded products according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Cut GEP materials to within specified tolerances and in accordance with SOPs and manufacturing orders.
• Measure product accurately using tape measures, micrometers, verniers, calipers, and other precision tools.
• Visually inspect products for defects and verify they meet specified requirements.
• Perform in‑process quality checks and take corrective action when process deviations occur.
• Maintain accurate work documentation, including computer entries and hand-written records.
• Read and follow production schedules, shop orders, and manufacturing order instructions.
• Load and unload annealing rigs, carts, and ovens to maximize annealing throughput.
• Transfer product to the next manufacturing process or to the warehouse in a timely manner.
• Operate additional cast secondary operations equipment as needed.
• Use hand tools and other equipment to support production, inspection, and general production tasks.
• Initiate and support activities to minimize downtime and improve product quality.
• Maintain work areas and company property to high housekeeping and 5S standards.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and actively support an injury‑free work environment.
• Perform additional production and related duties as required by operational needs.
Essential Skills
• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Proven machine operation experience in a production environment.
• Ability to accurately measure to 1/16 of an inch using a tape measure.
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and related measuring tools for product inspection.
• Ability to lift and handle up to 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to understand work orders, schedules, and safety information.
• Basic computer navigation skills and ability to complete computer and hand documentation.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production equipment.
• Commitment to working safely and supporting an injury‑free work environment.
• High school level or equivalent reading, writing, mathematical, and comprehension skills.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and process flow in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• 1–3 years of industrial or manufacturing experience performing repetitive production tasks.
• Experience with table saws, extrusion equipment, overhead cranes, or CNC machinery.
• Previous use of micrometers, calipers, and other precision inspection tools in a production setting.
• Experience with general production, inspection, and hand tool use.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring and documenting work.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures and instructions.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and mandatory weekend overtime when required.
• Post‑offer, pre‑employment drug screen may be required in accordance with company policy.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reading, PA.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.72 - $22.72/hr.
