Transportation Engineering Technician III (61033975)
Job Responsibilities
Performs field inspections on all phases of work being performed by contractors on complex road and bridge projects during construction. Prepares reports to include daily work reports, erosion control reports, sampling and testing logs, and material certification logs. Trains technicians (co-workers) in all aspects of construction work to include field inspections, sampling and testing of construction materials, maintaining daily diaries, and using AWP (AASHTO Ware Project). Performs preliminary construction work on assigned projects. Serves as the Agency's representative when meeting with contractors, general public, property owners, and utility company representatives in answering questions, resolving disputes, and satisfying complaints. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and two (2) years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Attainment of a Technician Certification in accordance with the SCOOT Technician Certification Policy may substitute for six (6) months of directly related experience.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May require occasional exposure to noise. May require working outside of normal work schedules and weekends.
