Position Summary
The Lead Family Engagement Specialist is crucial in guiding the efforts of school-based Family Engagement Specialists. This role is dedicated to strengthening the connections between families, schools, and the broader community to enhance student success. Responsibilities include developing a comprehensive family engagement plan aligned with the district’s strategic goals, ensuring compliance with federal standards under Title IA Section 1116 of ESSA, and supporting Family Engagement Specialists in providing parents and community stakeholders with essential resources and information. This position is pivotal in fostering meaningful partnerships that promote the educational and social achievements of students by involving their families deeply in the educational process.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or GED required
• College degree preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint
• Background Clearance
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Experience working in low-income urban communities
• Experience developing communication tools across multiple platforms, planning events, and managing multiple projects concurrently
• English and Spanish verbal and writing skills are preferred
• Willingness to flex hours
• Excellent communication skills

Skills-based Competencies
Required to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the job’s functions include: planning and managing projects and programs; overseeing program financial activities; developing effective working relationships; preparing and maintaining accurate records; using assessment results to guide instruction; and administering personnel policies and procedures.
Knowledge-based Competencies
Required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions, and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to perform the functions of the job satisfactorily include pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; personnel and budgeting processes; intervention programming, diversity best practices, and standard business practices.

Independent problem-solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem-solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines, and problem-solving with equipment is moderate. Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Generally ranges from 5-10 bullet points)
• Engages parents and parent organizations to understand, advocate for, and contribute to their children’s right to a high-quality education.
• Engages families and community members around issues that affect the quality of educational experiences and seek input and suggestions for improving the academic achievement of CCSD students.
• Convenes and supports meetings of key stakeholders, including faith-based organizations, youth, and other community groups.
• Develops and provides ongoing training to school family engagement specialists to build their capacity to engage families and community members as outlined in Title IA Section 1116 of the ESSA Act . .
• Represents CCSD at various community events and meetings.
• Supports family engagement specialists to cultivate and sustain collaborative community relationships.
• Coordinates ongoing professional learning and support for school-based family engagement specialists.
• Provide training and support to school and district groups as needed around best practices in building relationships with families and overall family engagement practices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
