We are searching for a reliable and professional CDL Class A Over-the Road Driver to transport freight across long distances, ensuring on-time deliveries, compliance with safety regulations, and excellent customer service in support of the Pet Foods Division. The position could require extended periods away from home on occasion. Schedule Monday-Friday (Occasional weekend hours) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs required daily pre-trip inspection checklists and immediately reports any needed repairs. General knowledge of ELD systems. Delivers finished goods primarily to the Northeast & New England Region with occasional deliveries to the Mid-west. (Occasional Florida run may be required). Follow all DOT rules and regulations. Ensure that inside and outside of vehicle is clean. Hauls bulk, sacked, or palletized ingredients/products to customers and other company locations as directed by Logistics Manager. Loads and unloads materials onto or from truck by hand, forklift or electric pallet jack. Record mileage from Brown's trucks and tractors and report to supervisor. Ensures that a trailer stand is positioned and secured when dropping a trailer at a dock. Keep accurate records as required manually. Keep accurate records of any additional information necessary for invoicing or cost analysis. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Skills Current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Clean Driving Record. Must pass Clearinghouse search on a yearly basis. Current Medical Card. Must have the ability to become certified on forklift and pallet jack. QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education - High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 3-5 years related driving experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills – The ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language. Must have the ability to follow detailed instructions, both verbal and written. Must safely use a telephone while on the road to adequately explain and/or instruct others of situations that must be conveyed. Math Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and understand maps & directions in order to plot the proper delivery schedules and time constraints present with the position. Physical Demands - Must be met by an employee to successfully perform job. · Frequently required to drive, sit, walk, talk and hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk. · The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. · Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment ·While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud when in the field / driving.
