Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:Tier 1 Mechanic supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure. This role focuses on routine maintenance, basic repairs, and assisting higher-level technicians to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.The hours for this position: Monday -Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Position Requirements:Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or associate degree in HVAC/R or a related field preferred.Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a maintenance field requiredBasic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).Ability to use hand and power tools safelyStrong customer service skills when interacting with hospital staffAbility to lift and move equipment up to typical maintenance standardsWillingness to work rotating shifts including weekends or on‑call as neededPosition Purpose to Demonstrate: Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic HVAC/R systemsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, and regulatory documents.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to interact professionally with hospital staff, patients, and vendors.Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or adverse conditions.Key Responsibilities:Perform routine preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and fixtures (lighting, doors, plumbing, HVAC filters, etc.).Respond to basic maintenance requests from clinical and non-clinical departments in a timely manner.Assist senior mechanics with more complex repairs involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical support systems.Conduct minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, repairing wall fixtures, tightening hardware, and patching small surfaces.Inspect equipment and facilities to identify potential safety hazards or maintenance needs.Document all work performed in the hospital’s maintenance management system.Follow hospital safety protocols, including infection control, PPE use, and regulatory compliance.Support emergency response efforts such as power outages, equipment failures, or facility incidents.Maintain tools and work areas in clean, safe, and organized conditions.Position Highlights and Benefits:Day 1 benefits, no waiting period!
