Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Athens, GA for an Engineer within the Athens-Clarke County Public Utilities Department. The responsibilities include planning, designing, and managing utility infrastructure projects, performing technical analyses, and ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulations. The Engineer will also perform site inspections, collaborate with team members and stakeholders, and contribute to problem-solving and innovative solutions to enhance the department’s operations.
Qualifications
• Proficiency in engineering principles, project management, and technical design
• Experience with AutoCAD, GIS, and other engineering software
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and permitting processes for utilities
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred or the ability to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe
• Experience in municipal utilities or public works is a plus
