Position Overview: Senior Warehouse Technician
Sigma, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Senior Warehouse Technician to support one of our clients in Athens, GA. This 6-month contract opportunity is ideal for experienced warehouse professionals with strong SAP expertise and leadership capabilities. The role involves managing complex inventory operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and mentoring junior staff in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inventory Management & Control:
• Manage complex inventory processes including receiving, supplying, transferring, and cycle counting using inventory management systems.
• Maintain accurate physical and system inventory records.
• Prepare expired or obsolete inventory for proper destruction.
• Ensure adherence to First Expiry–First Out (FEFO) policies.
2. Material Handling & Processing:
• Receive and inspect raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods from suppliers or production.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks.
• Label, package, and store materials appropriately across warehouse locations.
• Deliver materials to designated warehouse or operational areas.
3. Systems & Data Entry:
• Perform accurate, real-time SAP data entry for inventory transactions.
• Execute material movements including bin-to-bin transfers, TO/TR orders, and adjustments.
• Act as key or backup user for GBS systems, supporting system updates and testing.
4. Shipping & Logistics Coordination:
• Prepare and transfer materials for production, export, or external warehouses.
• Ensure all shipments include proper documentation and follow GDP standards.
• Coordinate inventory allocation to cost centers and storage locations.
5. Quality, Compliance & Investigations:
• Lead investigations related to inventory discrepancies, CAPAs, and audit findings.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with quality systems.
• Maintain clean and organized warehouse environments, including coolers and freezers.
6. Leadership & Training:
• Train and mentor junior warehouse technicians using structured development plans.
• Provide guidance on daily operations, quality expectations, and system usage.
• Lead by example in safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
7. Continuous Improvement:
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S methodology.
• Identify process improvement opportunities within warehouse operations.
• Take ownership of projects and drive them to completion with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
Education:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associate’s Degree preferred
Experience:
• Minimum of 6 years of warehouse, manufacturing, or material handling experience
• Experience in regulated environments preferred
Technical Skills:
• Advanced SAP experience (inventory queries, transfers, TO/TR orders, adjustments)
• Experience with ERP systems such as WCS or similar
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience using GoTrack for investigations and deviations
Equipment & Certifications:
• Certified to operate forklifts (stand-up and sit-down), order pickers, and pallet jacks
• Strong knowledge of mechanical warehouse equipment
Skills:
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities
• Excellent communication skills for audits, reporting, and training
• High attention to detail and organizational skills
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unaided
• Ability to work occasional on-call weekends (at least once per month)
• Lean/5S knowledge (Green Belt preferred)
