Job Summary
The Material Planner/Assistant Scheduler position is responsible for ensuring effective/efficient flow of materials from order placement through completion of units, which supports Manufacturing and Operational objectives to focus on customer demand with optimum inventory levels and resource utilization.
This role will be onsite in Athens, GA. Relocation Assistance is available.
Responsibilities
• Monitor daily operations for the flow of materials, and address concerns as necessary with Operations, Master Scheduler, Design, etc. to support production targets
• Resolve and provide corrective actions for material downtime
• Facilitate the timely order and replenishment of materials through ERP or Kanban/Visual System tools
• Seek approvals from Design Engineering and Quality for any substitution of products that may be necessary. Follows established process for ICN’s
• Manage past due or expedited orders to support production targets
• Establish, monitor, and maintain Kanban levels that relate to pull-system requirements for assigned area
• Analyze workloads and material flow in assigned area to adjust inventory on Kanban levels to support customer demand
• Lead efforts to ensure that all visual systems are being maintained with timely and accurate information
• Coordination and roll out of new or modified components as identified per Production Control Manager
• Support VRMA/MRR process to ensure timely closure
• Develop good relations with key PPI suppliers
• Create a positive, proactive, problem-solving environment
• Communicate with strategic sourcing regarding vendor availability, performance, and emerging trends
• Collaborate with the scheduling lead to maintain an effective master production schedule aligned with customer requirements and resource capacity
• Analyze supply and demand trends to identify risks or imbalances and propose actionable solutions
• Anticipate and mitigate supply constraints through cross‑functional coordination with operations, sales, and supply chain partners
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or pursuing a four-year degree. Preferred degrees include Supply Chain, Finance, or Engineering.
• Work experience that includes management in operations, finance, continuous improvement, or process engineering, etc.
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
• Detail oriented and highly organized. This includes planning and data analysis. Should have the ability to see and understand the big picture
• Strong math and computer skills; computer applications including MS Office, Exchange, and Syteline ERP
• Able to lead SIOP (sales, inventory, operations planning) process
• Demonstrate accountability and ability to hold others accountable
• Credible at all levels through technical competence, drive, follow through behaviors, and communication skills
• Thinks strategically and approaches all efforts from a future, proactive standpoint.
• Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
• Situational awareness, excellent communication, organized, good negotiator, and physical stamina
• Actively seeks, shares, and applies new concepts to continuously improve self and others
• Works effectively both individually and in teams to achieve organizational goals
• Skilled at designing and mentoring of 5S standards and visual systems
