The Compliance Director opportunity is a high exposure role with a multi-billion dollar manufacturer in Berks County, PA. The Compliance Director will report to the General Counsel and will work to establish a company-wide compliance program, create appropriate policies, and develop trainings. The Compliance Director will oversee regulatory compliance related to trade, data privacy, anti-bribery, ESG, and legal.
Compliance Director - Position Responsibilities:
• Manage the development, implementation, and improvement of risk-based compliance and risk management programs, initiatives, policies, and procedures across business units.
• Oversee regulatory compliance in key areas including anti-bribery, trade compliance, data privacy, environmental/social/governance (ESG), including responsible materials sourcing, human rights, and other applicable laws and standards.
• Manage and monitor compliance and risk management frameworks, perform supplier risk assessments and due diligence, oversee and/or conduct internal investigations, and conduct periodic reviews, audits, and risk assessments to ensure adherence to internal and external requirements.
• Maintain and improve compliance and risk reporting and data management systems, ensuring accurate, timely, and comprehensive reporting to stakeholders.
• Develop compliance training, education, and awareness programs to employees, leadership, and stakeholders to foster a strong culture of ethics and accountability.
• Partner with internal departments (e.g., Procurement, Personnel, Finance, and Operations) and engage with external stakeholders (e.g., auditors, regulators, customers, and other third parties) to ensure regulatory alignment and risk monitoring and mitigation.
• Supervise and mentor direct report(s), including the Compliance Data Coordinator, providing guidance, professional development, and performance management.
• Support the Legal Department in responding to audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
• Stay informed of emerging regulatory trends, laws, and best practices, and regularly advise executive leadership on compliance and risk-related matters and proactive and innovative compliance strategies.
Compliance Director - Position Requirements:
• Bachelors degree required- concentration in legal, accounting/auditing, or compliance preferred
• Professional compliance certification (Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP), or similar) preferred
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in compliance, legal operations, or risk management (preferably in corporate legal or highly regulated industry environment)
• Demonstrated success in developing and managing enterprise-wide compliance programs and risk management
• Strong background in regulatory compliance frameworks, ESG, including responsible materials sourcing, third-party/vendor risk management, and trade compliance
