Service Manager- Field Operations
Boswell Oil Company is a dynamic growth-oriented distributor of lubricants and fuels to wholesale, retail, and commercial end user markets throughout Georgia. We are seeking an experienced Service Manager- Field Operations for our company. Previous field service leadership experience required and petroleum industry service experience is strongly preferred.
Some key competencies for this position are operational leadership and accountability, problem-solving, decision-making, cross-functional coordination, and customer service focus. We expect this position to help solidify our current Service Department through process ownership for improvements to workflow, quality, and productivity, then provide leadership to grow it into a true profit center.
The office for this position may be in one of three of our bulk plant/warehouse locations- Athens, Waycross, or Albany. It is posted separately for each location, but there is only one position as this position will serve all locations. Some travel will be necessary.
The typical schedule will be Monday through Friday 8a-5p. To meet business need there may be schedule flexibility.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience. A company vehicle will be a part of the total compensation package.

SUMMARY:
Oversee day-to-day field service operations, including dispatching, work order execution, technician supervision, and service-related inventory. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring service work is completed efficiently, safely, and on time while supporting team productivity and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following.

• Manage daily scheduling and dispatch of field service technicians.
• Oversee work orders from creation through completion and billing readiness.
• Ensure timely completion of service requests and follow up on open tickets.
• Maintain service calendar and prioritize urgent and routine work.
• Supervise, support, and direct Field Service Technicians in daily activities.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of technicians.
• Monitor productivity, attendance, and performance.
• Provide hands-on support in the field when needed.
• Coordinate with Sales, Dispatch, Fleet, and Warehouse teams to complete service work.
• Communicate with customers regarding service timelines and updates.
• Work with vendors and contractors as needed to support operations.
• Track and manage service-related inventory and equipment.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, and organizing service materials.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment and usage.
• Address service delays, scheduling conflicts, and operational issues in real time.
• Assist technicians with troubleshooting and job completion.
• Problem solves issues as necessary. Escalate larger issues to leadership as needed.
• Ensure service work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies.
• Support safety initiatives and incident reporting.
• Direct oversight of Field Service Technicians.
• Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Coordinates with HR on employee engagement, development, and disciplinary actions.
• Travel to all Boswell Oil locations and customer sites as appropriate for observations, meetings, and trainings.
• Draft and present reports on service operations and expenses.
• Maintain adherence to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
• Follows prescribed safety rules and fosters an environment where employee safety is a top priority.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Other (Non-Essential) Functions
Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be assigned to other employees as part of a “Reasonable Accommodation” under the ADA.
• Assist as needed with monthly inventory cycle counts.
• Deliver product to other Boswell Oil locations or customers as needed.
• Crosstrain to assist in other departments.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Required and responsible for employee safety, attending safety training, complying with all company safety and work policies and reporting all accidents/injuries immediately to their Manager and HR Department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of supervisory and non-supervisory personnel in specified departments assigned. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assisting, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in field service, maintenance, or operations.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in petroleum, fuel systems, or related industry preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or other relevant industry certifications.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL or medical card preferred).
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Strong understanding of dispatching, service workflows, and work order systems.
• Experience with ERP, dispatch, or service management systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
