Job Summary We are seeking a responsible, empathetic, and proactive Overnight Garage Parking Lot Attendant to manage the safety and security of our parking garage from 10 PM to 6 AM. In addition to general parking lot duties, this position requires handling sensitive situations involving individuals experiencing homelessness. The ideal candidate will balance customer service, safety, and compassion while ensuring the garage remains secure and operational. Responsibilities Monitor and Enforce Safety Policies: Ensure the garage remains safe, clean, and secure for all patrons. Patrol the garage area regularly to check for any suspicious activity or safety hazards. Handle Homeless Situations: Calmly and respectfully approach individuals experiencing homelessness who may be using the parking garage as a shelter. Offer assistance or information about local resources, shelters, or services, as needed. Maintain a professional, compassionate attitude while addressing any concerns. Manage Parking Flow: Ensure that vehicles are parked properly and that traffic flow is maintained throughout the night. Direct patrons to available parking spaces and provide assistance if needed. Enforce Garage Rules: Enforce the garage’s policies, including ensuring that parking spaces are not being misused or occupied overnight. Address any unauthorized activity with discretion. Coordinate with Local Authorities and Support Services: If needed, contact local law enforcement, emergency services, or outreach programs for support when dealing with challenging situations. Document and report any incidents involving homeless individuals or safety concerns. Customer Service: Provide excellent service to patrons during late-night hours, assisting with inquiries or concerns related to parking, garage rules, and safety protocols. Maintain Facility Cleanliness: Keep the garage clean and free from litter. Address any sanitation issues promptly. Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, vehicle breakdowns, or any other emergencies that may arise during the shift. Qualifications Experience: Prior experience in security, customer service, or a related field is preferred. Experience dealing with sensitive situations involving vulnerable populations is a plus. Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed during challenging situations. Empathy and a non-judgmental approach to interacting with individuals in need. Physical Requirements: Ability to patrol the garage and stand for extended periods. May require some light lifting or physical activity. Attention to Detail: Ability to identify and address security concerns, ensuring the garage is safe for patrons while maintaining a respectful environment for all individuals. Knowledge: Familiarity with local homeless resources and shelters is a plus. Knowledge of basic security protocols and emergency response procedures.
