Job Title: Controls Engineer Job Description The Controls Engineer will play a pivotal role in enhancing manufacturing processes by troubleshooting equipment, integrating new technologies such as cameras, and leading controls upgrade projects, including modernizing outdated PLCs. This role involves applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish, optimize, and continuously improve production operations.
Responsibilities • Troubleshoot equipment and lead controls upgrade projects.
• Integrate new technologies into existing systems.
• Apply engineering principles to improve manufacturing processes.
• Define process inputs, workflows, and sequencing for efficient production.
• Recommend and support the design of production machinery and plant equipment.
• Advise manufacturing teams on equipment-related design challenges.
• Perform electrical and controls design, including developing programs for manufacturing equipment.
• Select electrical components for electro-mechanical systems.
• Design, commission, modify, and support HMI and PLC/PC-based control systems.
• Develop PLC programs using ladder logic and functional blocks (Siemens, GE Fanuc, Allen-Bradley).
• Evaluate software modules and integrate operator interfaces.
• Design electrical control panels and create detailed schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Apply structured troubleshooting methodologies and formal risk assessments.
• Evaluate and apply NEC, NFPA 79, UL, and ANSI/ISO standards.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop comprehensive project documentation.
• Assist in determining project schedules and budget requirements.
• Follow Good Documentation Practices in alignment with QMS and EMS requirements.
• Perform all work in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
Essential Skills • Proficiency in ladder logic and PLC programming.
• Ability to troubleshoot and write/edit ladder logic.
• Experience in creating electrical prints and specifying components.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
