Position Overview The Graphic Artist/Estimator plays a pivotal role in preparing customer artwork for print, ensuring every label is accurate, press‑ready, and aligned with production specifications. This role blends creative design, technical prepress work, and job estimating—ideal for someone who enjoys both the artistic and analytical sides of the printing industry. Key Responsibilities Prepress & Graphic Production Review customer‑supplied artwork for printability, accuracy, and completeness. Prepare and convert artwork into press‑ready files for flexographic or digital printing workflows. Rebuild, clean up, or enhance artwork as needed to meet production requirements (color separation, trapping, die line setup, bleed, resolution standards, etc.). Create label layouts, proofs, and design mockups when required. Ensure all design files meet internal quality standards and client branding guidelines. Label Design Produce new label designs based on customer ideas, existing brand guidelines, or regulatory requirements. Collaborate with internal teams (sales, production, customer service) to ensure design intent matches project specifications. Manage revisions and updates to existing label artwork. Estimating Analyze job specifications to generate accurate production estimates (materials, labor, press time, tooling, finishing, etc.). Work with sales and production teams to evaluate feasibility, complexity, and cost variables. Maintain estimating templates, price matrices, and job history for future quoting accuracy. Communicate lead times, pricing, and production considerations clearly and professionally. Qualifications Required Experience in flexographic, digital, or commercial print environments (label experience preferred). Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (primary), plus Photoshop and Acrobat. Understanding of prepress concepts: trapping, color management, die lines, step‑and‑repeat, bleed, spot colors, barcodes, variable data, and press limitations. Strong attention to detail, color accuracy, and file integrity. Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines. Preferred Experience with estimating software such as LabelTraxx, EFI Radius, PrintIQ, or similar . Familiarity with flexographic plate technologies and digital printing workflows (e.g., HP Indigo, Xeikon, Mark Andy Digital). Prior work in a label‑manufacturing or packaging environment.
