POSITION:
Welding Instructor at the G. Frank Russell Technology Center in Greenwood School District 50
The G. Frank Russell Technology Center provides career and technical education programs that prepare high school students for college and careers through hands-on, industry-relevant learning experiences. The center partners with local businesses and industries to ensure students gain the technical skills, certifications, and employability skills needed for success in today's workforce.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical degree in welding or a related field. Minimum of three (3) years of welding experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
South Carolina Teaching Credential through Career and Technology Education (CATE).
Demonstrated knowledge of welding processes, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), as well as welding safety standards, blueprint reading, and weld inspection.
Experience working with high school students or training individuals in a technical setting is preferred.
Ability to create a safe, structured, and engaging hands-on learning environment that emphasizes both technical skill development and workplace readiness.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with students, parents, staff, and business/industry partners.
Ability to integrate technology into instruction and maintain accurate records related to student progress, certifications, and program requirements.
Willingness to serve as a student organization advisor (e.g., SkillsUSA) and support student participation in competitions and leadership opportunities.
DAYS/SALARY:
190 days. Salary based on the Greenwood School District 50 teacher salary schedule, commensurate with degree and years of experience.
