Position Summary
The Student Enrollment and Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting students at the Athens Community Career Academy. This position works closely with the Career Academy Leadership Team to provide academic support to students who are dual enrolled at Athens Technical College. The specialist also collaborates with students, teachers, and parents to create a positive classroom and school environment that promotes academic success. They provide additional academic support and remediation for students at risk of failure, ensuring students stay on track and complete their career pathways.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Associate’s degree with at least two (2) years’ study preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
• At least 21 years’ of age (individuals who have a minimum credit hours and hold an Associate’s Degree or higher do not have to meet the minimum 21 years of age requirement)

Skills-based Competencies
Required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: performing multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions; applying assessment instruments; utilizing coaching, training, and workshop skills; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

Essential Duties
• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce subject material and skills, assisting them in reaching academic goals and standards.
• Identifies academically at-risk students and develops strategies to support their specific needs.
• Communicates regularly with administrators regarding student academic progress and concerns.
• Coordinates communications between instructors, students, and parents to ensure alignment and support for student success.
• Oversees the recruitment and retention of Clarke County School District high school students enrolled at the Career Academy.
• Tracks, communicates with, and follows up on potential program applicants from CCSD high schools.
• Serves as a liaison and provides support to college instructors teaching on-site at the Career Academy.
• Acts as an academic advisor for students dual-enrolled at Athens Technical College, ensuring they stay on track with their academic and career pathway goals.
• Provides intervention strategies (e.g., scripted instruction, digital programs) and collaborate with teachers and parents to develop materials that can be used as academic interventions at home.
• Attends meetings, collaborates with the community for outreach activities, and reports observations of student incidents to ensure students receive necessary support and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
