About Us
The University System of Georgia (USG) is comprised of 26 higher education institutions as well as the University System Office (USO). Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens. The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville. The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta. The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow. The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell.
Location
This role is based at the Information Technology Services (ITS) office in Athens, Georgia, located at 2500 Daniells Bridge Road. Onsite attendance is required five days a week, and remote work is not offered for this position.
This position is for permanent, full-time employment. Candidates must reside in the state of Georgia or be willing to relocate to Georgia as a condition of employment.

Job Summary
The Software Developer Entry Level serves as an entry-level technical resource within the Administrative Services Development Team, supporting the University System of Georgia's enterprise applications, OneUSG Connect (PeopleSoft HCM), GeorgiaFIRST Financials, and Augusta Financials.
This position is designed for recent college graduates or early-career professionals eager to develop technical skills in enterprise application development and support. Working under the guidance of senior developers, the Software Developer contributes to the design, development, and maintenance of system fixes, enhancements, and integrations that ensure reliable day-to-day operations of critical business systems.
Over the next several years, this position will play an important role in supporting PeopleSoft production stability and performance while also participating in the Unified ERP Project - a multi-year initiative transitioning the University System of Georgia from PeopleSoft Financials and HCM to the Workday platform. This role offers the unique opportunity to gain hands-on PeopleSoft development experience while preparing for future technical work and learning opportunities within Workday and cloud-based integration technologies.
Responsibilities
Application Development & Support (Primary Focus)
Assist in developing, testing, and deploying technical fixes, enhancements, and reports for PeopleSoft HCM, Financials, and Augusta Financials.
Support data integrations between PeopleSoft, Banner, Concur, and other related systems.
Use SQL and PL/SQL to extract, validate, and analyze data for troubleshooting and reporting purposes.
Learn and apply PeopleSoft tools such as Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Integration Broker, and Data Mover under the guidance of senior developers.
Assist with production support and scheduled maintenance to ensure application reliability and system uptime.
Participate in code reviews, documentation updates, and version control activities.
Unified ERP Project Participation
Support the Unified ERP initiative, which will transition the University System from PeopleSoft to Workday Financials, Procurement, and HCM over the next three years.
Collaborate with the project team by assisting with data validation, testing, and documentation to ensure successful system migration and continuity.
Develop a foundational understanding of Workday architecture, integrations, and reporting tools through guided training and project exposure.
Participate in knowledge transfer sessions to gain insight into modern cloud-based ERP technologies and integration concepts.
Contribute to testing or maintenance activities and integrations connecting PeopleSoft and Workday environments during the transition period.
Technical Analysis & Collaboration
Work with senior developers, analysts, and system administrators to understand business requirements and assist in implementing technical solutions.
Help document system configurations, code changes, and testing results for audit and support purposes. participate in project meetings and collaborate with functional and technical team members to support operational and development goals.
Learning & Professional Development
Engage in structured learning to build technical proficiency with PeopleSoft development tools, Oracle databases, and ERP integration concepts.
Develop skills applicable to Workday integration technologies and modern cloud-based systems.
Participate in mentoring sessions, team knowledge, sharing, and formal technical training. Gradually assume more complex development assignments as experience increases.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
0-2 years of software development or technical support experience (internships or academic projects may substitute).
Foundational knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, or other database query languages.
Familiarity with programming concepts and object-oriented development principles.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a technical team and follow established development standards.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to or coursework related to PeopleSoft, Workday, or other ERP systems.
Familiarity with PeopleSoft development tools such as Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, or Integration Broker.
Experience with SQR, SQL Developer, or nVision reporting tools.
Basic understanding of API integrations, web services, or cloud-based applications.
Knowledge of ITIL or other change management frameworks.
Experience with Java, Python, or XSLT.
Interest in supporting enterprise software transformations or large-scale system migrations.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application and integration issues efficiently.
• Ability to translate business needs into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
KNOWLEDGE • Knowledge of data structures, APIs, web services (REST/SOAP), and secure file transfer methods.
• Familiarity with SQL, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices (source control, CI/CD).
SKILLS • Proficiency in developing and supporting Workday-to-PeopleSoft integrations and related automation.
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.
