Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is an Educational Specialist responsible for identifying and treating students with communication, speech, and language impairments that affect their academic and social performance.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assessment & Diagnosis: Screen and evaluate students across all grade levels (PK-12) to identify disorders in articulation, fluency, voice, and receptive/expressive language.
• IEP Development: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and psychologists to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's communication needs.
• Direct Therapy: Provide one-on-one or small-group therapy sessions to remediate speech and language delays, including specialized treatments like tongue positioning or object classification exercises.
• Collaboration: Consult with classroom teachers to suggest strategies and accommodations, such as visual supports, to ensure students can access the curriculum.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate clinical records for student progress and complete documentation required for Medicaid billing for eligible services.
