What We Look For In a GED Tutor
• Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of all four GED test sections including Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies, covering algebra, reading comprehension, essay writing, data analysis, and civics. Ability to explain test format, passing score requirements, and content standards while preparing adult learners to earn their high school equivalency credential.
• Strategic Test-Taking & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching multi-step math problem-solving, evidence-based reading strategies, and extended response essay construction for the GED. Guides students through using the on-screen calculator, interpreting graphs and data tables, analyzing primary source documents, and managing time across test sections. Emphasizes building foundational skills while developing test-taking confidence for adult learners.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with GED test content standards and common challenges such as algebraic reasoning gaps, extended response writing requirements, and interpreting scientific data without laboratory experience. Adapts instruction using diagnostic assessments, targeted skill-building exercises, and GED practice tests to support adult learners and non-traditional students at varying academic levels seeking credential completion.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
