Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform care plans. Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions, ensuring adherence to prescribed protocols and safety standards. Manage complex wound care procedures such as suturing, dressing changes, and sterile processing techniques to promote healing. Operate advanced medical equipment including ventilators, cardiac catheters, dialysis machines, and sonography devices while maintaining infection control standards. Document all patient interactions thoroughly using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpretation of results using ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate record keeping. Support patients with specialized needs including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health challenges. Provide emergency response support in urgent care or hospital settings with skills in airway management, acute pain management, and trauma triage at Level I or Level II trauma centers. Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or home & community care environments to develop personalized discharge planning and case management strategies. Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication administration, post-acute care instructions, and chronic disease management. Skills Proven experience working in diverse clinical environments including hospitals (ICU, PICU), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice care, or outpatient clinics. Strong proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and coding. Expertise in critical care procedures including ventilator management, tube feeding administration, catheterization (urinary and vascular), and sterile technique practices. Knowledge of physiology principles relevant to patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation across pediatric to geriatric populations. Skilled in performing phlebotomy (venipuncture), administering injections safely, and managing IV insertions/infusions with aseptic technique. Familiarity with medical terminology related to internal medicine, geriatrics, emergency medicine, infectious disease care, orthopedic procedures like spinal taps or gastric lavage. Ability to work effectively with patients experiencing acute pain or complex conditions such as dementia or behavioral health issues; experience in hospice or palliative settings is a plus. Excellent communication skills for triage assessments over the phone or in person; capable of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance standards along with proficiency in medical documentation practices for legal and billing purposes.
