Description:
We are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse with 2 years of experience in an inpatient psychiatric unit.
The schedule consists of 5 shifts, each 8 hours long, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
Holidays and every other weekend are expected.
Scheduled weekends off cannot be approved without adequate coverage.
Block schedules are not available.
This position requires resilience, flexibility, and strong clinical judgment.
Staffing ratios are typically 5 staff members for 18-25 patients, which includes 3 licensed personnel and 2 additional staff members.
An RN works in a charge nurse role, while another RN acts as the admission nurse and oversees all admissions for that shift.
Another nurse is assigned to manage medications for all patients during their shift.
RN staff are trained in three roles: charge nurse, admission nurse, and medication administration.
There are also positions available for 2 float staff members who handle various responsibilities.
Each staff member takes a patient load and can participate in patient groups, rounding, and vital signs monitoring.
The patient population primarily consists of individuals experiencing acute psychosis, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, suicidal ideation, homicidal thoughts, and dual diagnoses.
In case of emergent medical issues, emergency services must be contacted.
Restraints are a last resort, and all staff are responsible for managing them when necessary.
Backup security personnel are available during crises, such as patient escalations or manual holds.
