Job Title: Saw Operator
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Saw Operator to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced machine shop environment. The ideal candidate will support our manufacturing operations by accurately cutting plastic and metal materials using a variety of manual and automated saws. This role demands strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently interpret prints.
Responsibilities
• Operate and maintain equipment such as the Homag Sawteq 400 Panel Saw, Syd-Mech S-20A Horizontal Automatic Band Saw, Marvel Series 8 Vertical Band Saw, Delta Table Saw, and DeWalt Miter Chop Saw.
• Set up saws according to job specifications and production requirements.
• Cut plastic and metal materials to precise dimensions while meeting quality standards.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure accuracy.
• Identify and report equipment issues, material defects, or quality concerns.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
• Accurately measure parts using calipers, tape measures, and other measuring tools.
• Apply basic to intermediate math skills, including fractions and decimals.
• Enter and track job information in the ERP system.
• Maintain production efficiency while adhering to safety and quality requirements.
• Follow all safety procedures and shop policies.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area.
• Handle materials safely and properly, including use of tow motor / forklift as needed.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the shop.
Essential Skills
• 3–5 years minimum experience operating saws in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Proven experience cutting plastic and/or metal materials.
• Ability to read and interpret prints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency using calipers, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools.
• Strong math aptitude, including the ability to apply basic algebra and geometry.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using an ERP system.
• Excellent communication skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area.
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Set-up experience and some programming skills.
• Blueprint reading is essential.
• Versatile machinist experience with both CNC Mills and CNC Lathes.
• Experience with HAAS, Makino, and other CNC machinery.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required.

Work Environment
You will work in a Plastics Machine Shop, where the environment includes noise and machinery. The position requires working the 2nd shift from 2:30 pm to 12:15 am, for approximately 45 hours a week. The dress code is standard for a machine shop setting.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of READING, PA.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
