Position Summary
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support the effective operation of the warehouse at Biolyst Scientific. This includes handling and storing products that may include biological samples, reagents, diagnostic tools, and histological supplies. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Essential Job Functions
Product Handling and Storage :
• Receive, unpack, and store inventory, including diagnostic kits, chemicals, biological specimens, and histology-related materials, ensuring proper storage conditions (e.g., temperature-sensitive storage).
• Ensure proper labeling and tracking of all inventory for accurate inventory management and traceability.
Inventory Management
• Maintain accurate stock levels, perform regular inventory counts, and assist with stock rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out) to prevent product expiration or degradation.
• Monitor inventory trends, notify supervisors of potential stock shortages, and assist with reordering supplies as necessary.
Shipping And Receiving
• Process outgoing shipments of diagnostic products, life sciences tools, and histology materials, ensuring all orders are packaged according to company and regulatory standards.
• Verify the receipt of incoming goods, check for damages or discrepancies, and ensure products meet the required quality standards.
Regulatory Compliance
• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP), and safety regulations in the handling and storage of diagnostic products, reagents, and biological specimens.
• Ensure that all warehouse activities follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials, including biohazardous samples and chemicals.
Equipment And Material Maintenance
• Ensure that all warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and inventory management tools, is properly maintained and in safe working condition.
• Assist in the management of materials that require special handling, such as temperature-controlled storage for reagents and samples.
Documentation And Record Keeping
• Maintain accurate records for shipments, receipts, and stock levels.
• Document all inventory transactions, including receipts, movements, and disposals, in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Safety And Cleanliness
• Ensure that the warehouse is clean, organized, and safe for employees.
• Participate in safety drills, report any safety hazards, and follow standard operating procedures for hazardous material handling and spill containment.
Customer Service
• Assist internal teams, such as sales, quality control, and production, by providing product information and helping with order fulfillment.
• Provide support for any urgent or emergency orders requiring rapid shipping or special handling.
Skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with team members and departments.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of inventory management software or systems is a plus.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 lbs.
• Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
• Lifting and moving of heavy or large items in a safe and ergonomic manner.
Work Environment
• Warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to temperature-controlled environments, biohazardous materials, and chemicals.
• Compliance with all safety and health regulations is mandatory to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Minimum Requirements
Education : High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in life sciences, biology, or a related field is a plus.
Experience : Previous experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or logistics, ideally within the life sciences or diagnostic product sectors.
Knowledge : Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GMP, GDP, and biosafety regulations is highly preferred.
