Part of the Division of Student Affairs, University Housing consists of nearly 2.8 million square feet of facilities and is home to more than 9,000 students. The department employs 220 full-time staff members, 21 graduate assistants and 565 undergraduate student workers. As a self-supporting auxiliary, University Housing operates a $59 million budget derived only from student housing fees and other non-state sources.

• Act as comprehensive support for participants, guests, and group sponsors throughout summer conferences.
• Serve in an on-call duty rotation to manage any issues related to maintenance/facilities concerns, check-ins/outs, building keys, access cards, and inventory management of linens and other summer conferences resources.
• Conduct thorough room and building inspections before the arrival of each group and after their departure from housing, ensuring detailed assessments and accurately reporting any issues identified.
• Collaborate in the preparation of check-in materials for assigned conference and orientation groups, including the assembly of key packets and access cards.
• Configure common spaces and lobbies to facilitate seamless check-ins, checkouts, and additional reservations.
• Facilitate prompt and efficient check-ins and checkouts for conference services, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees as required.
• Demonstrate proficiency in StarRez, housing software system, and various Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Teams, OneNote and Excel after training.
• Facilitate communication of any issues related to participant stays by working with various stakeholders, such as community RBSWs, Maintenance, and Housing Assignments, and Residential Programs and Services to ensure a successful guest experience.
• Work community desk shifts within conference residence halls to support weekly departmental operations.
• Effectively multitask and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines, work collaboratively in a team environment, and follow instructions with minimal supervision.

The Summer Conference Assistant is a student position that supports the daily operations of summer housing facilities. This role assists with group check-ins and check-outs, preparation of guest materials and pre- and post-arrival room inspections. Summer Conference Assistants participate in an on-call rotation to support conference and Orientation guests by responding to lockouts, facilities concerns and other needs. Through thorough inspections before and after group stays, this position helps maintain quality standards and ensures spaces are ready for subsequent guests.
Conditions Of Employment
• Dates of employment: May 11 – August 2
• Dates of in-Person training and building preparation: May 11 – May 23
• Respond to all on-call requests for conference services between 5:00pm and 9:00am when on call, and 24 hours on weekends and holidays.
• Work up to a 40-hour week if not taking summer classes, with varied schedules including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekends as determined by conference services supervisor(s); or work up to a 20-hour week if enrolled in classes, with similar scheduling arrangements.
• May not hold dual employment within the university during summer terms; student employees may not have another student position when employed with University Housing.
• Live on campus (single room provided) and serve in the conference services on-call rotation, between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. Monday – Friday and 24-hours a day on weekends and holidays.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• Enrolled on at least a half-time basis at the University of Georgia for the upcoming fall semester (i.e., enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours for undergraduate and professional students during fall/spring semesters; enrolled in a minimum of five credit hours for graduate students during fall/spring semesters). Consult the University Housing Human Resources office for additional information.
• Be in good standing with the Office of Student Conduct. Good standing is defined as not being on disciplinary probation or noncompliant with directives issued by University Housing and/or the Office of Student Conduct.
• Student employees are considered temporary employees. A temporary employee may be separated at any time for any reasons without notice and either the employer or the employee can end the employment relationship. • Consistently support, communicate, enforce and abide by all University of Georgia and University Housing policies, procedures and regulations.
• May not exceed 6 consecutive hours of work per shift.
