Graphic Designer Reports to Design Manager or General Manager Job purpose Create conceptual and production designs for signs, graphics, and branded environments. Team members operate with a high degree of self-motivation, strong attention to detail while meeting tight deadlines. She/he demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills, and has the ability to work independently on projects. A working knowledge of the sign/graphics industry is helpful to communicate intricate details into designs. One must establish and maintain a professional working relationship with internal team members across all departments, including sales, production, installation, and administration. Duties and responsibilities Primary Duties Accountable for the on-time delivery of proofs, design files, and production files Accountable for accurate details and material specifications on all projects Help Prioritize design requests daily. This includes communication with Account Managers and the Design Manager. Work side-by-side daily with multiple account managers, focusing on project details and keeping open lines of communication regarding deadlines Always seek to improve your skill set in the industry Do what it takes to assist the team in meeting assigned goals for the day, week, and quarter. Design Create designs for projects on a daily basis When assigned, create In house items to propel The Sign Brothers brand forward. Continue to challenge yourself with your design seeking more advanced practices Responsibilities Play a supporting role for the Design Manager Attend Design Meetings and play a supporting role by being on task and contributing Keep Design software up to date Assist in the research of new technology and materials when assigned Assist Design Manager with improving our standardized process for training and developing interns and future designers Seek feedback and input from all other project managers to continually advance the department with the best and practical practices to improve your own efficiency and accuracy Be punctual Have a good balance between analytical and creative thinking. Possess a high level of attention to detail, organization and pride in your work Qualifications Bachelor’s of Arts Degree (preferred) Fluency in Mac and PC operating systems Proficient ability in Vector and Raster Design Software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) 3-5 years of brand, digital, or sign design experience within an agency, design department and/or client environment required Must have strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent work ethic, detail-oriented and organized, with consistent follow through Able to work both within a team and independently, with the ability to handle multiple projects at once and meet tight deadlines under pressure Knowledge of branding and digital channels, trends and new developments Ability to think analytically, solve problems, make decisions and use sound judgment Ability to understand how a viewer interacts with signage, and design with them in mind Understand Sign Creation primarily prepress and the production process Have a strong knowledge and skill level with the use of Adobe Creative Suite A plus but not required: Knowledge in Sketch Up, Corel Draw, AutoCAD or similar programs Working conditions Office environment conditions, including being inside most days with occasional trips to job sites or client locations. Some days may require standing for periods of time. Physical requirements Work requires operating design software, which often includes hours spent sitting in front of a computer. Occasionally, team members will be asked to help with miscellaneous tasks as needed around the shop, and therefore must be able to lift 25lbs.
