WHY DO WE NEED YOU? The Engineering Intern role will assist in a variety of projects, and will have exposure to the core engineering processes of the business, including product process improvement, manufacturing planning, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities. The role will also include exposure to insulation manufacturing processes including preparation of molten glass, fiberizing wool fiberglass matt, curing the binder-coated fiberglass matt and packaging operations. The Engineering student will have the opportunity to make an impact in an Engineering department at the center of a complex insulation manufacturing site. This position will work in a cross-functional “Think Tank” team environment to include engineering and maintenance skills. IS THIS JOB FOR YOU? Position will work in an office, located in the administrative area of the manufacturing plant as well as in different areas of the manufacturing plant. The work location is a manufacturing plant environment with limited HVAC, concrete floors, and exposure to industrial noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature changes. Normal plant operation is 24 hours, 7 days a week and work hours may vary depending on business needs. TO MAKE SURE NOTHING IS FORGOTTEN Works in an office environment within a manufacturing plant with concrete floors, and exposure to industrial noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature changes. Department Support: Works under close supervision of the Production Manager, Hot End Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Process Engineers Work with PLC Programming, upgrades and industrial automation software. Participate in engineering activities related to manufacturing projects including continuous improvement and process efficiency. Provide engineering services for more complex problems under direct guidance of higher-level engineering personnel. May provide communication support by helping compose and distribute email, flyers, data graphs, etc. Input data electronically into spreadsheets and other databases as assigned. Update policies and procedures, including proof-reading of documents Project Assistance: Participate in activities related to manufacturing projects including continuous improvement and process efficiency Take an active part in the execution of development projects. Supporting on various projects by managing tasks, gathering information, and coordinating with team members. Perform other duties as needed and requested by supervisor or manager.
