Position: Manager of Creative Services Department: Community Relations & Communications (CRC) Department Reports to: VP of Communications & Strategic Initiatives Supervises: Graphic Designers, Creative Content Manager, Content Coordinator, creative freelancers/relevant contractors, interns and volunteers Job Description: The Manager of Creative Services is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of projects that visually translate and transfer Mote’s mission and priorities to audiences inside and outside the organization. This position is also responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of brand standards; liaising with other departments within the lab and with external contractors/vendors; and providing leadership within the CRC Department. The Manager of Creative Services is expected to seek out new and innovative solutions for accomplishing these responsibilities, in addition to leveraging existing methods and platforms. This position oversees other staff, interns and volunteers as needed to ensure that Mote’s identity is successfully represented in all visual materials. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: ● Provide direction, management and mentorship for the Creative Services team, including all staff members, interns and volunteers; ● Initiate and set goals for the Creative Services team, in alignment with Mote’s strategic priorities, by establishing deadlines, milestones and workflow processes; ● Serve as the in-house consultant and expert on matters related to the visual presentation of Mote's identity and its engagement with various audiences across digital, print, and web based applications; ● Work directly with the PR & Marketing Manager to coordinate CRC projects, deadlines, schedules and workloads, and to ensure full creative support of the organization’s PR and marketing efforts; ● Source, evaluate, onboard and act as lead liaison for print, photography, signage and design vendors as needed; ● Monitor the relevancy of Mote's visual reputation by making updates or additions to the organization's brand standards and guideline system as needed for clarification, timeliness, or changes in the organization's overall goals or priorities ● Improve Mote staff’s ability to consistently contribute to Mote's public identity with on-brand, high-quality materials through the development and maintenance of an accessible collection of resources (digital templates, printed inventory, brand assets, a cultivated photography database, clear guidelines etc.), and by proactively training Mote staff on communication best practices; ● Oversee the development, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of creative services and resources offered by the CRC; and ● Strengthen Mote's reputation as a world-class marine science research institution by overseeing and approving graphics that visually translate and simplify Mote-specific research or priorities for a variety of platforms and audiences. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: ● At least 5 years of practical experience in digital/print graphic design, visual communications, brand management, and/or a closely related field ● A minimum of 3 years experience in direct supervision of staff ● Experience with one or more project organization and task management platforms such as ClickUp or Asana ● Strong knowledge of, and practical experience with, design operations ● Ability to demonstrate experience with all aspects of a creative project, from conceptualization through installation or production ● Experience with performance evaluation techniques and key metrics ● Experience leading an “in-house” creative team ● Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud programs ● Physical abilities: close vision and color vision ● Bachelor’s Degree in a related field ● Experience in a nonprofit setting preferred Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year Work Location: In person
