Principal
The East Penn School District is seeking outstanding applicants for the position of Principal at Macungie Elementary School. This is a full-time, 12 month position beginning on or before July 1, 2026.
The Elementary School Principal directs and supervises the operation of the elementary school. He/she is responsible for the continuous development, improvement, and evaluation of the educational program within the framework of the district's philosophy and established goals. The Elementary School Principal provides primary leadership in all aspects of management, administration, and instructional improvement in the school.

Organizational / Labor Relationship: Act 93
Status (FLSA): 12 month position, exempt, salaried
Reporting Relationships
• Ascending: Assistant Superintendent
• Descending: All district personnel within the Elementary School
Qualifications
Education : Masters Degree and extensive graduate course work in administration.
Certification: Must hold or be eligible for Pennsylvania certificate as a K-12 principal, elementary or secondary principal.
Experience: Five years of satisfactory experience as a school professional. Three years experience as a building administrator preferred.

Essential Functions / Duties / Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
• Monitors curriculum continuity and evaluates the instructional program within the school
• Ensures that the approved curriculum is taught
• Defines goals and objectives as related to district goals so that they meet or exceed Pennsylvania requirements
• Facilitates meetings to support all students through the MTSS framework
• Develops, with appropriate staff, programs to meet the needs of all students
• Assists in planning and conducting staff development activities
• Plans and implements master and student schedules
• Informs public of the educational program of the school
• Attends and participates in district committee meetings
Supervision/Personnel Management
• Utilizes a comprehensive personnel evaluation program for all building staff
• Identifies individual strengths, weaknesses, and areas that need improvement
• Assists in the recruitment and selection of new staff members
• Makes personnel assignments based on knowledge of ability, qualifications, past performance and school needs
• Supervises and evaluates all instructional and non-instructional staff within the building
• Oversees the publication of staff handbooks and other related materials
• Encourages professional growth and creativity
• Administers all collective bargaining agreements for elementary school staff
Communications
• Responds fairly and consistently to staff, students, and community concerns
• Takes necessary action to resolve problem situations
• Interacts effectively with groups to promote positive outcomes
• Promotes community involvement in programs and activities
• Selects means of communication appropriate to each situation
• Speaks effectively in both formal and informal situations

• Plans and conducts meeting of instructional staff and others as needed
Decision-Making/Problem Solving

School Facilities and Management

• Plans and supervises all emergency drills and evacuations

• Oversees the scheduling and rental of the elementary school facility and grounds
• Develops effective procedures to administer school functions
• Works cooperatively with central administration in all daily and projected maintenance programs
Finance
• Prepares accurate budgets and effectively monitors expenditures
• Maintains accurate inventory of supplies, materials and equipment
• Supervises all activity accounts for the elementary school building
Other Duties
• Implements a Schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) program that is fair and promotes orderliness and student learning
• Monitors student progress
• Provides appropriate educational program for students
• Maintains accurate student records
Extracurricular Duties
• Supervises, schedules and plans assembly programs, contests, field trips, and other activities
• Supervises all student activities
Auxiliary Services
• Supervises guidance, health, pupil personnel, food services, transportation, instructional media and technology, and maintenance services
• Is responsible for other assignments as directed by the Assistant Superintendent
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift, reach, communicate (vision, hearing, and speech), carry or convey sufficient weight to safely and effectively carry out functions, duties, and responsibilities
• Ability to independently ambulate in and around school buildings and office areas
• Ability to travel to and from assigned work locations without employer support
• Is able to independently read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
Minimum salary $120,648. Final salary determined by experience and salary schedule.
