We are seeking an experienced, mission-driven Childcare Program Director to lead and oversee our multi-site After School operations.
Position Overview
The After School Program Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and compliance management for all After School programs. This position supervises Site Directors, ensures adherence to Bright From the Start (BFTS) licensing standards, manages budgets, builds school partnerships, and supports staff development.
This role requires a high-capacity leader who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site childcare environment.
Core Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Development
• Recruit, hire, onboard, train, supervise, and evaluate Site Directors and childcare staff
• Lead staff development trainings prior to each program session
• Provide coaching in classroom management and positive behavior strategies
• Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork
Licensing & Compliance
• Ensure full compliance with Bright From the Start , state, federal, and local regulations
• Prepare sites and teams for licensing visits and inspections
• Oversee background checks (BFTS), training records, and safety documentation
• Maintain required certifications and compliance files
School & Community Relations
• Serve as liaison to the local county school system
• Build strong relationships with principals, teachers, and families
• Address parent concerns with professionalism and timely follow-up
Financial & Operational Oversight
• Develop and monitor annual program budgets
• Oversee registration, billing, and family account management
• Ensure payroll accuracy and invoice processing
• Conduct regular site visits, audits, and quality assurance checks
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Child Development, or related field
• Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in licensed childcare or after school programs
• Experience managing multi-site programs preferred
• Strong knowledge of licensing standards and compliance processes
• Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
• Budget management experience preferred
• CPR & First Aid certification (within 30 days of hire)
• Child Abuse Prevention training (within 10 days of hire)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass state and federal background checks
Bright From the Start experience strongly preferred.
Physical & Work Requirements
• Frequent travel between school sites
• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout school facilities
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Occasional evening meetings
