Research And Development Engineer
A well-established manufacturing company in the building products space is adding a Research & Development Engineer to its team. This individual will play a key role in advancing product design, improving mechanical systems, and supporting new product launches within a fast-paced production environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys blending engineering design with hands-on manufacturing support.
Responsibilities
• Lead engineering efforts related to new product development and enhancements to existing product lines
• Develop mechanical designs, component layouts, and system improvements using 3D modeling software
• Generate and maintain accurate engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and product structures
• Support product validation efforts, including lab testing, performance evaluation, and certification processes
• Design and implement custom tools, fixtures, and equipment to improve throughput and operational efficiency
• Troubleshoot mechanical and equipment-related challenges in both development and production settings
• Collaborate with operations, quality, and leadership teams to ensure smooth implementation of design updates
• Assist in transitioning new products from prototype phase into full-scale production
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives tied to process reliability and product performance
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD platforms (SolidWorks, Fusion, or similar systems)
• Experience creating detailed mechanical drawings and assembly documentation
• Working knowledge of metal fabrication, welding processes, and pneumatic systems
• Hands-on mindset with comfort working directly on the production floor
• Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
