Accounting Manager
Our client is looking for an Accounting Manage r out of government contracting industry.
Location: Arlington VA - flexibility for hybrid to remote schedule, does want someone someone local.
Type: Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $140-160K (depending on experience)

Our client is a well-established government contractor supporting DoD and federal agencies . They are experiencing strong growth and are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and ensure compliance within a Deltek Costpoint / GovCon environment .
💼 Position Overview
The Accounting Manager will oversee full-cycle accounting operations , manage the monthly close, and ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements in a complex project-based environment.
This is a highly visible role partnering with leadership, FP&A, and Program Management teams.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close , including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Oversee GL, AP, AR, payroll allocations, and project accounting for government contracts
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, project financials, indirect rates, and variance reporting
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA audit requirements
• Manage government contract types (CPFF, T&M, FFP, IDIQ) and project cost structures
• Oversee billing, revenue recognition, collections, and subcontractor invoicing
• Support budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Lead audit preparation and DCAA / external audit support
• Develop and maintain internal controls, SOPs, and process improvements
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff and junior team members
✅ Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA a plus)
• 6–10+ years of accounting experience with GovCon environment required
• Strong experience with Deltek Costpoint (or Unanet / Jamis / Procas)
• Deep knowledge of FAR, CAS, DCAA, indirect rates, and cost accounting
• Experience with project accounting and contract types (T&M, FFP, CPFF, IDIQ)
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
• Strong leadership, communication, and process improvement mindset
