Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to provide case coordination to the Athens-Clarke County Courts. This position will utilize a holistic and person-centered approach to individuals in the legal system. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining records, case management services, building resource networks, supervising student interns, assisting and supporting treatment services programs, and performing additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or related degree with two years of direct practice experience required, preferably in a criminal justice setting or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Requires valid driver’s license.
Master's degree preferred.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned .
Conducts brief screenings and assists with barriers individuals and families may be facing and linkage with resources available to them.
Gather and document available information from individuals, including when meeting with them in the courthouse or jail to collect signatures, intake information, and other essential documents.
Attends court sessions to assist in the identification of individuals in need as well as to provide swift linkage to resources and treatment.
Provides information and regular updates to attorneys and judges as needed about individuals and their participation in services.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with judges, attorneys, law enforcement, court staff, and treatment providers to support continuity of care and smooth operational coordination.
Provides brief needs biopsychosocial assessment services to individuals in the legal system to determine necessary services for success, including, but not limited to, health and life skills training, housing, job readiness, personal financial management, and educational enrollment
Makes appropriate referrals and coordination in crisis situations (e.g., individuals in court behaving abnormally due to psychiatric crisis, family crisis, illnesses, emotional difficulties, etc.).
Links participants to treatment, social services, public benefits and other community services.
Engages in follow up with agencies to ensure the individuals are utilizing resources.
Develops and maintains a network of referrals and community relations related to mental health and substance use treatment to support of justice-involved individuals.
Participates in multidisciplinary meetings with justice partners to help coordinate services and address systemic barriers
Partners with other treatment services programs to make appropriate recommendations to treatment court services.
Documents sessions and referrals in accordance with departmental regulations and within the established time frame.
Tracks data related to screenings, referrals, and outcomes for reporting and evaluation purposes.
Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive materials and information at all times.
Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the Athens-Clarke County Treatment Services Division as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position.
Knowledge of psychiatric treatments, medication, and co-occuring mental health and substance use disorders.
Skill in assessment, goal planning, case management, and counseling.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and/or ordinances related to the criminal justice system as a whole and probation specifically.
Ability to compile, organize, prepare, and maintain an assortment of records, reports, and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members.
Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.
Ability to represent the ACC Probation Office in the community and build positive community and agency relationships.
Ability to utilize and understand computer applications and techniques as necessary in the completion of daily assignments.
Ability to plan, organize, and/or prioritize daily assignments and work activities.
Ability to comprehend and apply regulations and procedures of the department.
Skill to deliver tasks associated with position, such as interpersonal communications, observation of behavior of individuals, interviewing and vocational assessment and use of self-defense techniques.
Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including personal computer, adding machine, typewriter, vehicle and TV. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.

MOTOR COORDINATION : May require the ability to coordinate hands, fingers, and eyes accurately in using automated office equipment. Requires the ability to lift, push, bend and pull objects or materials using body parts as the position necessitates.
MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as personal computer, adding machine, typewriter, vehicle and TV. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
