Job Title: Certified Behavioral Health Technician

Schedule Availability: Must be available for (2nd) shift
Summary of Position:
The Certified Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct, one-to-one and group behavioral health services to youth with emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric disorders. The BHT implements behavior support and treatment plans under the supervision of licensed or credentialed clinical staff in accordance with Pennsylvania regulations, program policies, and evidence-based practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Implement individualized behavior support plans, treatment goals, and skill-building interventions as written by the supervising clinician.
• Provide structured behavioral interventions to reduce maladaptive behaviors and increase positive, adaptive skills.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment at all times.
• Use trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive approaches.
• Accurately observe and document client behaviors, progress, and responses to interventions.
• Collect and document behavioral data in accordance with program and regulatory standards.
• Will be included in daily staffing ratio to assist in effective programming for all youth.
• Complete daily notes, incident reports, and other required documentation within required timeframes.
• Utilize approved crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
• Follow all safety protocols related to self-harm, aggression, and behavioral escalation.
• Report safety concerns, incidents, or changes in client status immediately to supervisory/leadership staff.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, and required trainings.
• Support family engagement as directed by the treatment team.
• Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and agency policies.
• Follow all Pennsylvania mandated reporter requirements.
• Maintain active certification, clearances, and required ongoing training.

Education/Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or associate’s degree with one of the following certifications below:
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
• Board-Certified Autism Technician (BCAT)
• BCABA (Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst)
• Completion of a minimum 40-hour behavioral health/RBT-aligned training
• Or minimum 2 years of documented behavioral health experience with required training
• Ability to work with children/adolescents with serious emotional disturbance
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
Language Ability
Ability to read, write and comprehend information. Ability to effectively communicate with residents, peers, clients, employees, and administration. Ability to professionally write detailed reports.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written and oral directions. Ability to interpret routine instructions without difficulty. Ability to apply rational/calm reasoning when confronted with difficult and/or ambiguous situations.
Certificates and Licenses
Valid driver’s license preferred
