Job Responsibilities
• Serve as institutional volunteer coordinator.
• Recruit, orient, and supervise all institutional volunteers.
• Conduct and coordinate worship services and religious education classes for all recognized faith groups.
• Provide pastoral care for inmates, to include deaths and critical illnesses of family members.
• Provide individual and group pastoral counseling and provide life skills classes.
• Visit inmates in all areas of the institution on a regular basis, with visitation in special management units at least once a week.
• Submit necessary reports and maintain all necessary documentation.
• Serve as liaison to community religious resources.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
The equivalent of a master of divinity degree from an accredited theological school, additional clinical pastoral education and/or work experience in a clinical pastoral setting.
SCDC Minimum Requirements
Must have the equivalent of a master of divinity degree from an accredited theological seminary; ordination as a priest, minister, or rabbi, with current ecclesiastical endorsement; one (1) year of pastoral experience; and must have completed two (2) CPE units under the supervision of a CPE certified educator. Will be required to have 4 units of CPE within 24 months of hire.
