Job Overview Sarasota Academy of the Arts, a small A rated K-8 Sarasota County Charter School, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary First Grade Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and enhancing students' academic and social development. This role requires creativity, patience, and the ability to engage young learners in Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading/ELA. We embrace the arts and music in everyday learning while maintaining high academics. Duties Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards, while collaborate with the other 1st grade teacher. Utilize effective classroom management techniques to create a conducive learning atmosphere. Assess student progress through standardized testing and provide feedback to students and parents. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and special education needs. Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional strategies that promote early intervention. Mentor students in their academic pursuits and personal growth. Familiar with FOCUS/Gradebook, Google Classroom Maintain an organized classroom environment that supports learning and creativity. Facilitate and enhance literacy and phonics skills among students. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field; Florida teaching certification required. Reading Endorsement a plus. Strong skills in classroom management and curriculum development. Knowledge of early intervention strategies to support at-risk students. Ability to mentor students effectively and foster their academic growth. Proficiency in teaching math concepts at the elementary level. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with students, parents, and staff.
