Overview We are seeking a skilled and experienced ASE Certified Fleet Mechanic to join our team. This role is second shift, 4pm- 12:30am, M-F managing a fleet of FedEx vehicles. This role is vital in ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of our diverse fleet of heavy-duty vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical expertise, hands-on experience with various types of repairs and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems efficiently. A background in dealership service, heavy equipment operation, or automotive diagnostics is highly preferred. This position will largely focus on oil changes, tire replacement, brake jobs and tuneups but isn’t limited to this. Duties Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of fleet vehicles including diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems. Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and electrical testing equipment. Conduct repairs involving welding, fabrication, tire service, and shocks & struts replacement. Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance activities for compliance and reporting purposes. Operate power tools and hand tools safely to disassemble and assemble vehicle components. Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform soldering when necessary. Assist in the fabrication or modification of equipment using welding and fabrication skills. Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Participate in preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan. Skills Proven experience with dealership service or as a mechanic specializing in heavy equipment or automotive repair. Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance including transmissions, HVAC systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diesel engine repair. Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex machinery. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools. Mechanical knowledge related to suspension systems, air brakes, alignment procedures, shocks & struts replacement. Experience with fabrication techniques including welding and metalworking. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a strong attention to detail. Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy components safely and perform manual labor as required. Strong customer service skills for interacting with internal teams or external clients regarding repairs or maintenance issues.
