Tax Manager
Tax Manager | Sarasota | $110,000–$130,000
International tax is one of the hardest parts of the profession to get right.
The rules move constantly.
The structures escalate quickly.
And when clients have money, entities, and people crossing borders, they expect certainty — not hesitation.
Most roles that touch international tax solve this by demanding long nights, constant urgency, and a life built entirely around deadlines.
This one doesn’t.
This Sarasota-based firm works deeply in international and cross-border tax , but they’ve deliberately designed the role so the work stretches your thinking without consuming your life. It’s a rare environment where you can do serious global tax work and still have evenings that actually feel like yours.
The work itself is properly technical. You’d be leading international compliance for clients with foreign entities, overseas income, and multi-jurisdictional structures. Reviewing and overseeing complex reporting tied to cross-border activity, foreign investments, and global transactions. GILTI, Subpart F, foreign tax credits, treaty analysis, inbound and outbound structuring — all very much part of the day job. This is real planning and problem-solving, not box-ticking.
You wouldn’t be doing it alone. The role involves close collaboration with attorneys, wealth advisors, and international specialists to solve problems properly. You’d also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and shaping a technical culture that values judgement, accuracy, and calm execution over panic and presenteeism.
What truly sets this role apart are the boundaries.
The core workweek is a genuine 37.5 hours . Busy season exists, but it’s controlled — typically 55–60 hours , not open-ended marathons. Hybrid working is built in and respected. Extra hours are recognised and converted into time back, not quietly forgotten. Training is supported, credentials are invested in, and there’s a clear upward path as the international practice continues to grow.
They’re looking for someone with hands-on experience in international compliance and cross-border tax , who’s comfortable reviewing complex calculations and entity structures, and who can operate confidently when the stakes are high. CPA, EA, or advanced tax coursework is preferred — but mindset, judgement, and capability matter more than letters alone.
You don’t need to tick every box to start the conversation.

Applying for a job isn’t a marriage proposal.
It’s just a conversation.
If it feels right, great.
If it doesn’t, you’ll still walk away with more clarity about what you want next.
