Position Purpose
Under the guidance of the School Principal, the Elementary Classroom Teacher supports student success by delivering high-quality instruction aligned with district-approved curriculum. The teacher fosters academic growth, builds strong interpersonal skills, and creates a flexible, safe, and welcoming classroom environment. Ongoing communication with students, families, and administration is key to supporting student progress and success.
What You’ll Do Instruction & Student Learning
• Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with district goals and objectives
• Create a classroom environment that supports individualized, small-group, and whole-group learning
• Develop thoughtful lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize learning time
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including students with special needs
• Teach responsible citizenship and essential academic content in accordance with state laws and district policies
Classroom & School Community
• Establish clear expectations for student behavior to maintain a positive, productive learning environment
• Encourage family engagement and maintain open, effective communication with parents and guardians
• Collaborate with grade-level colleagues and participate in faculty meetings and committees
• Supervise students during school-related activities, including transitions and transportation
Professional Growth & Accountability
• Maintain accurate records for attendance, grading, and student progress
• Administer standardized assessments in accordance with district testing requirements
• Engage in ongoing professional learning through workshops, seminars, and collaboration
• Participate in self-reflection and professional growth activities
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong understanding of elementary curriculum and effective instructional practices
• Ability to differentiate instruction based on student learning styles and needs
• Working knowledge of data systems and using data to inform instruction
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills with students, families, and colleagues
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
• Commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Certification / Licensure
• Kansas State Teaching Certification
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field
Experience
• Prior successful elementary teaching experience preferred
Work Environment
• School and classroom settings
• Standard office and instructional technology use
• Occasional travel to district buildings or professional meetings
