The Instructional Supervisor is an Act 93 position that provides leadership and support to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all grade levels and subject areas. Working under the immediate supervision of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the role involves collaborating with teachers, administrators, and staff to develop and implement curriculum, instructional standards, and best practices. The Instructional Supervisor is responsible for monitoring classroom practices, analyzing student data, and guiding educators in the use of evidence-based methods for improving student outcomes. The position requires fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with district and state requirements, providing coaching support, as well as coordinating and facilitating professional development.
Minimum Requirements
• Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or equivalent from an accredited college or university required
• Experience with curriculum development, instructional coaching, and/or technology integration preferred
Certificate/Licenses
• Valid Pennsylvania Administrative (Principal PK-12) Certificate required
• Valid Pennsylvania Instructional (Reading Specialist) Certificate preferred
Essential Functions
• Serves as part of the District’s administrative team; provides leadership and guidance in the implementation of District-approved curriculum and instructional resources across all content areas and grade levels, including English Language Development and Gifted Support.
• Interacts with teachers and other staff to support the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in facilitating the implementation of the District’s Cycle for Continuous Improvement (CCI)
• Monitors and supports classroom instruction through regular classroom observations, instructional feedback, and coaching; ensuring alignment with written curriculum, instructional standards, and best practices
• Coordinates and facilitates professional development focused on effective instruction, technology integration, curricular updates, and District priorities
• Ensures fidelity of instructional programs, including compliance with state and district requirements for curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
• Assists in the development and review of curriculum documents, including but not limited to: Planned Courses, Scope and Sequence, Implementation Guides, Units of Study, and Common Assessments
• Facilitates curriculum development committees, task forces, and working groups
• Supports new teacher induction to promote instructional excellence and retention
• Communicates regularly with stakeholders to align instructional goals and address identified needs
Additional Responsibilities
• Assist in the interviewing of candidates
• Assist in developing the annual budget for Curriculum and Instruction
• Attend Berks County Intermediate Unit workshops, as well as educational conferences that may require overnight stays
• Facilitate and/or coordinate curriculum/family nights
• Confer with individual parents and community members who are seeking information, advice or help in eliminating problems
• Perform other special administrative tasks, duties, and functions that may arise and that have been assigned by the supervisor
