Records Manager
Under the direct supervision of the Support Services Bureau Commander, the Records Manager will supervise the Records Supervisors and Technicians. This position will assist in performing duties involving the active files in central records as well as planning and organizing records systems, scheduling and coordinating workflow and establishing and maintaining quality standards.This position requires administrative work of an advanced level, directing and coordinating the progression and operations of the Central Records Section. Responsible for the overall management of the records maintained by the agency. This role requires the frequent, immediate exercise of independent judgment and initiative along with experience and specialized knowledge regarding records management best practices, Florida public record law, Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR), Florida records retention guidelines, Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC) rules and regulations, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Security Policy compliance requirements. Performance is evaluated through observation, results obtained, appropriate employee performance appraisals, and oral/written reports.
• Bachelors degree in related field.
• 4 years of related experience with an additional 2-year supervisory experience. (The term “experience,” refers to active full-time employment, either in the same position, or directly related to the position applied for. The experience must have occurred within the three (3) years prior to application with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.)
• Knowledge of Florida public record laws, Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR), and Florida records retention guidelines.
• Knowledge of the court system and legal procedures preferred
• Demonstrated skill in the use of computer and office equipment required to perform position tasks.
• Demonstrated skill in budgetary review, management, and expenditure approval to ensure efficient service of allocated funds
• Ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, demonstrating awareness for human diversity to citizens and colleagues.
