Manufacturing Accountant
A results-driven Manufacturing Accountant responsible for delivering accurate cost insights, driving financial integrity across production operations, and supporting data-driven decision-making. Skilled at analyzing manufacturing performance, optimizing cost structures, and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards. Partners closely with operations, supply chain, and leadership teams to support continuous improvement and profitability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee manufacturing cost accounting , including BOM analysis, standard cost updates, variance tracking, and inventory reconciliation.
• Analyze production performance , labor efficiency, machine utilization, and material usage to identify operational efficiencies and cost-savings.
• Prepare detailed cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting, monthly close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate standard costing models and collaborate with operations to validate routing, labor rates, and overhead allocation methodologies.
• Conduct thorough variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, purchase price variances) with actionable insights for plant leadership.
• Monitor and reconcile raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory , ensuring accuracy between physical counts and ERP system data.
• Partner with production and supply chain teams to support budgeting, forecasting , and long-range planning for manufacturing operations.
• Lead or support cycle counts, physical inventory audits , and inventory control process improvements.
• Assist with capital expenditure tracking , cost-benefit evaluations, and post-implementation reviews for new equipment or process changes.
• Ensure full compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and corporate accounting policies , while enhancing financial transparency throughout the plant.
• Provide real-time financial insights and dashboards to operations leadership to improve performance and profitability.
• Support continuous improvement projects using data analytics to streamline costing, inventory accuracy, and plant reporting.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and periodicals
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
