Description
The Chester County Solid Waste Authority is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team in the Environmental Services Industry. The candidate will work under the guidance of the Director of Engineering, a licensed Professional Engineer, contributing to the efficient and sustainable operation of the Lanchester Landfill and Reclamation Center. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth and development in a dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities
Drone Surveying Program: Operate and maintain the facility's drone surveying program to gather accurate data for site analysis and project estimation.
Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys using local surveying equipment to gather existing site and as-built information for various projects. Generate precise measurements for project estimation, construction take-offs, and verification of contractor payment applications.
3D Solid Waste Construction Plans: Create and develop 3D solid waste construction plans and lift sequencing to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of landfill operations.
GPS Equipment Support: Provide support for GPS-capable equipment used in landfill operations and construction.
Project Support: Collaborate with the Facility Engineer on various projects, gradually increasing your involvement in project planning and execution as you develop in the role.
Field and Office Work: Maintain a balanced work environment, with approximately 90% of your time spent in the office and 10% in the field.
Professional Development: Actively work towards becoming a licensed Professional Engineer and participate in ongoing training opportunities to expand your technical skills.
Public Works Projects: Over time, take on increased responsibilities, eventually facilitating and executing competitively bid public works construction projects.
Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
One to three years of experience in a civil engineering role is preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills and technical acumen to analyze and resolve engineering challenges.
Comfortable and proficient in the use of 3D CAD software, such as AutoDesk, SolidWorks, RevIT, or similar 3D rendering programs.
Knowledge of storm water management principles, regulations, and best practices.
A self-starting mentality with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
Willingness to work towards or possess a Pennsylvania Professional Engineering license.
Must have the ability to sit and/or stand for a period of eight (8) hours.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must have the ability to perform required duties physically and mentally with reasonable accommodations without endangering the health and safety of oneself or others.
Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
