About The Company
A leading aerospace manufacturer specializing in the design and production of advanced power and control systems for military and commercial aircraft is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team in Tempe, AZ.
The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, detail-oriented professional with strong expertise in root cause analysis, regulatory compliance, and Quality Management Systems (QMS) .
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and facilitate structured root cause investigations using 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Whys methodologies to drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Create, review, and manage quality policies, procedures, and work instructions to ensure QMS compliance with AS9100 and regulatory requirements.
• Track, analyze, and report quality performance metrics; present data to drive continuous improvement.
• Investigate quality issues across suppliers, in-process production, and finished goods to meet delivery and compliance goals.
• Perform internal audits and ensure conformance with AS9100 standards and internal quality procedures.
• Act as the primary liaison during customer, supplier, and regulatory audits, ensuring audit integrity and proper documentation.
• Monitor and track nonconformances, conduct root cause analyses, and manage corrective action planning.
• Collaborate with process owners and cross-functional teams to standardize best practices and improve quality processes.
• Maintain supplier quality records, interface with vendors on audit activities, and ensure resolution of quality concerns.
• Provide training and support to employees on quality processes, standards, and best practices.
• Support other quality functions, including final inspection, receiving inspection, and calibration activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field (equivalent experience considered).
• 5-10 years of quality assurance experience, including at least 2 years in aerospace or regulated manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 and FAA quality requirements.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contractual quality requirements.
• Experience performing and supporting internal and external audits.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems (Epicor preferred).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Experience & Certifications
• Prior experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
• ASQ certifications such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or CQA (Certified Quality Auditor).
• Experience preparing for FAA, customer, or AS9100 audits.
• Familiarity with export compliance and ITAR regulations.
• Previous FAA designee (DMIR) experience or ability to obtain designation preferred.
