About Us
The University System of Georgia (USG) is comprised of 26 higher education institutions as well as the University System Office (USO). Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens. The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville. The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta. The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow. The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell.
Location
This role is based at the Information Technology Services (ITS) office in Athens, Georgia, located at 2500 Daniells Bridge Road. Onsite attendance is required five days a week, and remote work is not offered for this position
This position is for permanent, full-time employment. Candidates must reside in the state of Georgia or be willing to relocate to Georgia as a condition of employment.

Job Summary
The Senior Business Systems Analyst (Developer) serves as a key technical resource within the Administrative Services Development Team, responsible for supporting and sustaining the University System of Georgia's PeopleSoft HCM and Financials environments during the transition to the new Workday platform as part of the Unified ERP Project.
Over the next several years, this position will primarily focus on PeopleSoft production support, troubleshooting issues, developing and deploying critical enhancements, and ensuring business continuity across all supported modules. While the long-term strategic goal is migration to Workday, this role provides essential stability and expertise in maintaining current PeopleSoft systems throughout the transition.
This role combines deep PeopleSoft development expertise with strong analytical and critical thinking skills to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities
PeopleSoft Production Support & Maintenance (Primary Focus) • Serve as a lead technical resource for PeopleSoft HCM, Financials, and Augusta Financials production environments.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve production issues to ensure system uptime and reliability.
• Develop and maintain production-critical enhancements, fixes, and configuration updates.
• Coordinate with other developers and DBAs during scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and releases.
• Provide direct support in key functional areas including:
• Support cyclical activities such as fiscal year-end processes, payroll runs, and budget rollovers.
Application Development & Enhancements • Use PeopleSoft development tools (Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Component Interface, Integration Broker, and Data Mover) to implement technical solutions.
• Design, code, test, and deploy system changes aligned with business requirements and established change management practices.
• Create and maintain SQL and PL/SQL scripts, queries, and reports to support data analysis and troubleshooting.
• Participate in peer code reviews, QA testing, and production deployment cycles.
Unified ERP Project- Transition Support • Collaborate with project teams to support data validation, interface review, and system analysis activities during the Workday transition.
• Provide institutional knowledge of existing PeopleSoft configurations, integrations, and data structures to ensure a successful migration.
• Participate in limited development or integration tasks related to the transition while maintaining primary focus on PeopleSoft stability and performance.
• Assist in testing and validating integrations or data conversions between PeopleSoft and Workday environments as needed.
Governance, Documentation & Collaboration • Maintain detailed documentation for system changes, enhancements, and production support activities.
• Follow ITS standards for secure development, version control, and change management.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, information security, and institutional policies.
• Collaborate closely with business analysts, functional leads, and cross-functional technical teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Mentor and support junior technical staff, sharing expertise in PeopleSoft development and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in PeopleSoft application development, support, or ERP technical administration.
• Strong proficiency with PeopleSoft development tools including Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Component Interface, and Integration Broker.
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills for data analysis, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Experience supporting PeopleSoft HCM and/or Financials modules such as Payroll, Time and Labor, Commitment Accounting, or Budget Preparation.
• Proven ability to diagnose complex system issues and implement effective solutions in production environments.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across functional and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting large-scale PeopleSoft environments in higher education or public sector organizations.
• Familiarity with Phire or other change management and deployment tools.
• Experience with integrations, APIs, or middleware connecting PeopleSoft to external systems.
• Exposure to Workday or experience assisting with ERP transition projects.
• Proficiency in additional programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, or XSLT.
• Understanding of data warehouse design principles and business intelligence reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES • Ability to design, develop, and maintain complex integrations across Workday and PeopleSoft systems.
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application and integration issues efficiently.
• Ability to translate business needs into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
KNOWLEDGE • Strong understanding of Workday integration tools (Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Web Services) and PeopleSoft technologies (Integration Broker, Application Engine, PeopleCode).
• Knowledge of data structures, APIs, web services (REST/SOAP), and secure file transfer methods.
• Familiarity with SQL, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices (source control, CI/CD).
SKILLS • Proficiency in developing and supporting Workday-to-PeopleSoft integrations and related automation.
• Skilled in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and debugging integration errors.
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.
