Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Commercial Rooftop Electrician to join our team and lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on commercial rooftops. Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on commercial rooftops, including solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays, HVAC controls, lighting, and low voltage wiring. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and electrical schematics to ensure accurate system installation and modifications. Use hand tools, power tools, multimeters such as ohmmeters, and other testing equipment to diagnose electrical issues effectively. Work with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to support automation systems within rooftop installations. Follow National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and safety protocols rigorously to maintain a safe work environment at all times. Collaborate with construction teams on renovation projects involving electrical upgrades or new system installations. Conduct inspections of installed systems for quality assurance and compliance with industry standards. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including wiring diagrams, schematics updates, and inspection reports. Assist in framing carpentry tasks or maintenance person duties as needed during project setup or site preparation. Ensure all work adheres to high voltage and low voltage safety procedures while managing power distribution systems effectively. Requirements Proven experience as an industrial electrician or commercial electrician with a strong background in rooftop electrical systems. Knowledge of NEC regulations related to high voltage and low voltage wiring practices. Hands-on experience reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for electrical installations. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment essential for troubleshooting. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in automation and control systems. Construction site experience with a focus on rooftop installations or renovation projects. Ability to work safely at heights while following all OSHA guidelines for fall protection and electrical safety. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently under pressure. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and documenting work accurately. Additional nice-to-have skills include experience in frame carpentry or maintenance person tasks that support electrical work; familiarity with schematics; experience working on solar or renewable energy projects; knowledge of high voltage systems; construction site experience involving roofing or building renovations.
