The Technician performs basic maintenance and light repairs on customer vehicles. Primary goals are safe, efficient performance of all maintenance and repair tasks as defined in the dealership processes and policies. Duties and Responsibilities: Performs basic maintenance and light repairs on customer vehicles Conducts multi-point inspections of customer vehicles to identify needed maintenance services and repairs Follows all required safety and hazardous materials procedures as required by the dealership policies and applicable laws and regulations Uses and maintains dealership-provided tools and equipment in proper operating conditions Documents inspection findings and maintenance requirements clearly and accurately and communicates them to the Quick Lane service writer Communicates proactively with other associates to ensure a smooth, safe flow of work throughout the shop Quality checks own work and the work of other Technicians as requested Utilizes the “on car” break lathe for turning rotors for all Customer Pay, warranty, or internal repairs Maintains certification levels and completes all factory and safety classes Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or GED ASE Certifications Factory required training courses 3 years clear driving record- No previous DUI history or moving violations No criminal background history Prior automotive repair experience Competent knowledge of automotive technology and related tools and equipment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Competencies: Detail oriented with multi-tasking ability Good customer service focus Good communication skills Knowledgeable of Ford and Lincoln vehicle repairs, tools and equipment Exceptional problem-solving skills Work Environment: This job operates in various types of vehicles and business environments that may include loud noises, odors or weather conditions. Driving is mostly during the day but could be required to drive in low light condition. The very nature of the work also means that mechanics can seldom avoid handling greasy and dirty parts. Physical Demands: Work on and repair a variety of vehicles in inclement weather and may often be in uncomfortable positions. May sit, stoop, crawl, bend, walk or stand for long periods of time in all weather and temperature conditions. Repetitive use of arms and legs and moving the whole body such as standing, climbing, lifting, balancing, crawling, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, grasping, hearing, seeing and talking. Technicians will commonly lift up to 50 lbs.
