Description
Schedule/Hours: Monday - Friday 8AM - 4PM (37.5 hours per week)
This position is responsible for: Responsible for all aspects of developing, implementing, and managing an effective volunteer program including recruiting, training and supervising volunteers. Seeks opportunities to promote The Salvation Army and its programs to the community.  Assists with special events.  Recruits, trains, coordinates, and manages the work of volunteers ensuring ample staff to meet program needs; prepares records and reports regarding the same. Manages volunteers and staff for Red Kettles and Angel Tree, as well as community outreach activities with other organizations.  Develops ongoing relationships with volunteers. Assists in maintaining  donor database and performs support work for the development department.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develops relationships and works with program and/or department heads to identify the need for volunteers, coordinate schedules, develop volunteer job descriptions, and collaborate to ensure successful training, orientation, and engagement of volunteer staff.
• Prepares and maintains up-to-date records on all volunteers; Performs background checks as required by Salvation Army policy.  Coordinates with Human Resources for the safe keeping of records.
• Develops seasonal recruitment campaign to secure volunteers for the Angel Tree & Christmas Kettle Campaign. Manage the Red Kettle Bell-Ringing volunteers (and employees if used); Recruit new volunteer groups, keep existing groups involved, supervise seasonal staff hired for Red Kettle Campaign; makes scheduling changes when necessary; Ensure information is in Red Kettle Worker. Manages volunteer recruitment for Christmas events throughout the year to ensure sufficient number of trained volunteers are prepared.
• Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for all aspects of the volunteer process. Creates and maintains process that gives potential volunteers the necessary information to make an informed decision regarding volunteers yet is not too cumbersome.
• Prepares public presentations of volunteer needs and opportunities for volunteer recruitment, speaking engagements, volunteer job fairs and community connections, including representing the local corps at service club and Chamber of Commerce events .
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs work for special projects and special events as assigned.
• Performs other related work as required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
• Ability to meet attendance requirements and work flexible hours
• Ability to read, write and effectively communicate the English language
• Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
• Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in business or marketing preferred
And
One year experience recruiting people to perform work on a volunteer basis preferred
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid state driver’s license
