About The College/Unit/Department
The Department of Geography within the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences offers B.A., B.S., M.A., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Geography, B.S. degree in Atmospheric Sciences, and Ph.D. degree in Integrative Conservation (ICON)/Geography, as well as undergraduate/graduate Certificate Programs in Urban and Metropolitan Studies and Geographic Information Science and an undergraduate Certificate in Local Food Systems. The Department of Geography at the University of Georgia is internationally recognized for excellence in research, teaching, and outreach across physical, human, and environmental geography. Our faculty and students engage in cutting-edge scholarship that addresses pressing societal and environmental challenges.

Position Summary
The Department of Geography at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time Instructor position, beginning January 01, 2026. We seek an engaging and dedicated educator who will contribute to the department’s teaching mission by offering high-quality instruction in introductory courses across the discipline. This is a full-time instructor position with an academic year appointment (9 months). There will be opportunities to supplement salary during the summer with summer instruction.
The candidate will teach multiple introductory-level courses in Physical Geography, Human Geography, and Atmospheric Sciences. The successful candidate will also support undergraduate learning through innovative, inclusive, and effective pedagogy and contribute to departmental service and student mentorship as appropriate.
Additional Requirements
At least two years of experience teaching at the college level.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
The successful candidate will have a documented record of teaching large introductory classes and will develop course offerings in multiple content areas. Other qualifications include demonstrated excellence in teaching or evidence of strong teaching potential, and commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
