Preferred Qualifications
Custodial Experience & Equipment Use
• Proficiency with custodial tools like vacuum cleaners, wet/dry vacuums, T-1 scrubbers, and other small machines
• Experience with specialized floor care equipment for tasks like carpet extraction, stripping/waxing, and refinishing wood floors
• Experience with floor care with large, specialized floor care equipment: carpet cleaning and extraction, strip/wax/burnish floors, refinish wood floors, etc.
Soft Skills & Availability
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Flexibility to work night shifts and weekends as needed
Position Summary
The Building Services Worker II duties are inclusive of those of the BSW I; sweeping, dust mopping and wet mopping of floors. High and low dusting of horizontal and vertical surfaces. Use of small custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, Wet/Dry vacuum, T-1 scrubber, and other machines that do not need extensive training to use. Cleaning windows and seals, walls, furniture, and other equipment in and around university buildings and grounds. Collecting and removing large quantities of trash and recyclable waste. Securing and unlocking university buildings. Assist in delivering, receiving, transporting miscellaneous supplies and materials to and from various buildings. Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting surfaces such as: glass, windows, doors and knobs, electrical switches, blinds, tables, furniture, and other building related fixtures. Cleaning classrooms, restrooms, offices, breakrooms, recreational and fitness buildings, laboratories, clinics, etc. Maintaining adequate supplies in restrooms and janitorial closets. Will perform bodily fluid clean-up or specialized viral/bacterial disinfection with bloodborne pathogen kit. Perform minor light bulb replacement from an 8’ ladder.
In addition, the BSWII will perform floor care with large specialized floor care equipment: carpet cleaning and extraction, strip/wax/burnish floors, refinish wood floors, etc. Responsible to the safe operation and operator level maintenance of assigned equipment. Responsible for building walk-through inspections on weekly basis, assist with equipment inspections of building cleaning machine and tools, and the submission of building and/or equipment inspection form to lead/supervisor.

• Prolonged walking to and from buildings.
• Move throughout buildings to include climbing stairs and riding elevators to perform work.
• Work from 8ft. ladders.

• Sweep, dust, wash, wet/dry mop, light floor maintenance, vacuum, and perform other duties as needed to maintain cleanliness of campus floors.
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
• Collect and remove trash and recyclables, clean and disinfect counters, restroom fixtures, equipment, and furnishings and perform other duties as needed to maintain the cleanliness of laboratories, office areas, classrooms, restrooms, clinics, recreational facilities, and/or other assigned work areas.

• Perform bodily fluid clean-up or specialized viral/bacterial disinfection.

• Perform related responsibilities as needed.
