Quality Engineer
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead or participate in projects to improve the operation, instrumentation, or control of the entire manufacturing process.
Introduce and monitor cost reduction and improvement programs
Disposition nonconforming material
Provide quality support for RM, EB, PAM, VAR and Powder products including but not limited to certification (release of product), melt releases and conversion work orders
Investigate customer quality issues
Participate in the internal quality audits program
Assist in regulatory and external audits
Implement/Initiate Quality control (SPC) for critical parameters and new technology (manufacturing- inspection)
Support quality control aspects of new process and product development
Maintain quality metric/reporting
Weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on quality maintenance
Initiate Management of Change (MOC) and Manufacturing Process Experiments (MPE) associated with control of product quality Assist with customer complaints, audits, and corrective actions, involving investigation of quality problems Back-up other quality department managers/engineers Serve on a rotating basis as weekend Quality Duty Officer ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES N/A QUALIFICATIONS COMPETENCIES Analytical - Analyzes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs work flows and procedures Accountability – Accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of his/her work. Reports unsafe conditions Leadership - Exhibits confidence in self and others; Inspires and motivates others to perform well; Effectively influences actions and opinions of others; Accepts feedback from others; Gives appropriate recognition to others EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree (BS) in engineering related field Metals industry experience is a plus. Minitab or other statistical software experience is preferred. Strong continuous improvement and problem solving background is a plus. Strong auditing/investigation skills needed. High degree of computer proficiency - MS preferred - word, excel, access SPECIAL SKILLS N/A ADDITIONAL NOTES None
