Sr. Accountant
As Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in managing our financial processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clarity in construction accounting. You'll support the Director of Finance through detailed analysis, robust internal controls, and strategic insights aligned with our growth initiatives and diversified project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
· Set up and monitor project budgets, cost codes, and change orders; track labor, materials, equipment, and overhead to ensure profitability.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash-flow). Manage general ledger reconciliation and journal entries.
· Oversee invoicing, payment applications, vendor payments, lien release tracking, and supplier/subcontractor billing. Forecast and manage cash flow to support project execution.
· Support internal and external audits, maintain documentation (e.g. lien waivers, contracts), and ensure GAAP and company policy compliance.
· Drive enhancements to accounting processes, ERP/job-costing systems, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
· Conduct variance and trend analysis; deliver reports and recommendations to the Director of Finance and operational teams.
· Assist with training/coaching of junior accounting staff, and liaise with project managers, estimators, procurement, and field teams to promote financial accuracy and transparency.
Qualifications
· Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
· 4–6 years of accounting experience; minimum 2 years in a construction or project-based environment.
· Strong competency in GAAP, general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
· Proven experience with job-costing, budget management, change-order tracking, invoicing, and lien control.
· Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g. QuickBooks Contractor, Sage 300 CRE, Yardi) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
· Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and time-management skills; strong attention to detail.
· Ability to meet deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
